Mangalore, Oct 1: St Aloysius College, which has been vouching for University status, has in this direction shot an appeal to Union Minister for MHRD Dr M M Pallam Raju to include the institution in list of colleges, which would be considered for the University status.
The appeal was handed over by the College administration to Minister for Transport, Road and Highways Oscar Fernandes during his visit to St Aloysius Institute of Management and Information Technology (AIMIT) of St Aloysius College, Mangalore.
Responding to the same, Mr Fernandes said that St Aloysius should initiate the process of becoming University through MHRD. "We lack original research and we do not attract enough foreign students. Jesuits with our worldwide network should be able to garner this support to get foreign national to our institutes and offer quality education," he said.

Mr Fernandes invited students to have a touch of how the Ministries function at national capital.
He offered to make arrangements for five students of the college to meet top bureaucrats and industrialists of the country, if they were interested.
