Mangalore, Oct 1: MLA J R Lobo along with officials visited Kadri Park and inspected the Park, on the backdrop of a memorandum submitted to him by Dr K R Shetty and others with regards to the renovation and maintenance of Kadri Park, on Tuesday.
Addressing the reporters, Mr Lobo said that the blueprint for the developmental works is ready, but it calls for certain changes.
"There is a plan to lay musical fountain here. However, the land proposed for the same is at the old deer park, which is located on the opposite side of the park. The total area of the Park is 1.75 acre. While 1.25 acre will be utilised for the musical fountain the remaining 50 cents will be utilized for children play area," he said adding that the shops that are now on the roadsides will be shifted to the commercial complexes that are proposed to be built on the either sides of the road.
The present Kadri park is to be transformed into a general park, that will include jogging and walking track.
The total project will be jointly undertaken by the MUDA, Horticulture Departmnet and the MCC at an estimated cost of Rs 5 crores, out of which nearly Rs 2.30 crores have already been sanctioned and the remaining funds will be collected from various sources. The project is to be completed within the next 12 to 15 months, he said.
Architect Vasanth Pai, MCC Commissioner Ajith Kumar Hegde, officials Mohammed Nazeer,Rajendra Kalbhavi, Praveen, Dr K R Shetty, leaders Dennis D'Souza, Walter lobo, Nelson, Mohan Mendon, Krithin Kumar, Jayakar Samarth and others were present.
