Mangalore, Oct 10: On the backdrop of the attack on cattle transporters near Kudupu on Wednesday, the Popular Front of India (PFI) has demanded booking the attackers under the Goonda Act.
Speaking to presspersons here on Thursday, AM Ataullah, district president of PFI said that the attack was waged by the goons of saffron groups. “The attackers have not just assaulted five persons with rods but have also fled with their valuables,” he said.
He said that the Sangh Parivar was trying to disturb harmony in the region as a holy festival of the Muslims is just a few days away.
“It is rather ridiculous to see such attacks happening on transporters and traders who possess the license for the trade.
Taking on the district in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai and the Congress government, he said that they are showing soft corner towards the attackers.
Even the Legislators from Muslim community are not condemning the act and speaking for justice, he said.
