Mangalore, Oct 14: Karnataka Muslim Jamaat Council has urged the Inspector General of Police (Western Range) and Superintendent of Police, Dakshina Kannada district to provide security to the Muslim community so that the community can celebrate'Eid-ul-Adha' festival without fear.
Council working President P M Ibrahim Musliar Bekal who is the Qazi of Udupi and Chikmagalur, in a memorandum to I G Prathap Reddy and SP Shanthanu Sinha has said that during the festival the customary slaughtering of animals has to be held.
In wake of this, the department has to be pro-active to avert opposition to such rituals from certain forces.
The Qazi has sought action against the forces which are spoiling communal harmony and has urged to control the increasing instances of theft which have been fuelling tension in the region.
The officials have promised security and have said that action will be taken on the people trying to spoil harmony in the region.
Council General Secretary Abusufian Madani, Secretaries B M Mumtaz Ali, M S M Zaini Kamil among others were present.
