Belthangady, Oct 15: Thousands of people joined hands together to welcome activist Mahesh Shetty Timarodi, Saujanya's parents Chandappa Gowda and Kusuma and her uncle Vittal Gowda on Sunday.
The crowd took the four out in procession from Gundya to Belthangady.
Shetty and Gowda family was on their way back from Bangalore after giving an interview for private channel, during which Mr Shetty had openly attack Dr Veerendra Heggade of Dharmasthala of having played a role in saving the culprits of Saujanya rape and murder case.
Addressing the protesters, Mr Shetty said that there real culprits must be put behind bars and hence CBI inquiry into the case is a must.
“We had expected small group of people standing by us while we return, but this move of the people of gathering in thousands to welcome us has shown that the people are for justice,” he said.
Objection
The employees of Sri Kshethra Dharmasthala stopped the procession which was passing by the temple and warned the protesters not to shout out slogans. While pandemonium broke out here, the police who were present at the spot brought the situation under control.
Kemar Mutt Seer who had taken part in the protest said that he had raised voice for the family even when the incident had happened and he still continues to demand for action against the culprits.
People from Venoor, Puttur, Uppinangady, Bantwal and other areas came in large number to press for justice.
Hindu Jagaran Vedike members took part holding saffron flags. Entire Belthangady wore a tense look on the day.
