Mangalore, Oct 25: To promote motor sports in coastal Karnataka, Tribhuvan Automobile Sports Club (TASC) and Bedra Adventure Club (BAC), Moodbidri along with Indian Motor Sports Club (IMSC), Mangalore will organise'Autocross 2013', a two-day national-level Autocross event for two-wheelers and four-wheelers on Sunday at Pancharatna Grounds, near Mahaveer College, Moodbidri.
Announcing this at a press conference here on Thursday, Abijeeth from TASC said that several rallies organised by the clubs in coastal Karnataka had proved to be crowd-pullers in the past and encourages young enthusiasts to participate in motor sporting events.
Following all the safety norms prevailing in rallies, the event will be flagged off by Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas M Veerappa Moily, and presided over by Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Abhaychandra Jain at 9.30 a.m. on Sunday, he said.
The registration of participants, documentation and free practice will be held on Saturday at the same venue. The race will be held after inauguration on Sunday.
The highlights of the event will be drivers like Dean Mascarenhas (Mangalore), Ranjith Ballal (Bangalore) and Shabeer (Bangalore), along with riders such as Adnan (Mangalore) and Tanveer (Mysore), he said.
The total prize money for the event will be about Ra 1.5 lakhs, and there will be a special trophy for the Fastest Driver which includes prize money of Rs 10,000, he said, adding that the expected number of participants was over 160.
Kuldeep and Mahendravarma from TASC, Ashwin Naik from IMSC and Akshay from BAC were present in the press conference.
