Kasargod, Oct 26: A 38-year-old man was murdered by a goonda gang at Uppala in Kasaragod on Thursday night.
According to Manjeshwaram police, the victim has been identified as Abdul Muthaleeb(38), resident of Mannamkuzhi in Uppala.
The man was hacked to death around 11pm as he was driving his car, near his apartment.
Based on the statement of the victim who died on the way to the hospital, police have registered a case against four persons including Kalia Rafeeq, alocal gang leader.
Police said the gang members fled the scene by the time neighbours reached the spot on hearing the commotion.
It was while he was being taken to the hospital that the victim revealed the name of the goonda gang leader, based on which the case has been registered.
Muthaleeb had worked with Kalia earlier. A few years ago, he parted ways with the gang and went to the Gulf. After returning from the Gulf, Muthaleeb got busy with real estate business. It is suspected that prior rivalry is the cause of the attack. Police said investigation is on to nab the culprits.
