Replying to queries of media persons, the CM said that he was aware of the demand to hand over the case to the CBI.
"The CID is probing the case and we have changed the investigation officer after a debate in the legislature. Let the CID submit its report and I'll decide on action later," he told reporters.
The II PU student of SDM College, Ujire, was raped and murdered on October 9, 2012 when she was on her way home after class.
Her family and several organizations have expressed reservations about the CID probe and are alleging that efforts are on to shield the culprits.
The chorus for a CBI probe into the case has been growing.
After Dharmadhikari of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala, D Veerendra Heggade, demanded this at a public meeting in Ujire earlier this month, former CM DV Sadananda Gowda, and former Union minister B Janardhan Poojary too joined the chorus.
