‘Jungle Jackie' Rajesh dies after falling off building

November 3, 2013

Mysore, Nov 3: Tribal boy Rajesh, who was literally picked from the jungle and introduced to the outside world, which was in stark contrast to what he had been used to all his life, with a reality show and subsequently made it to Kannada cinema, died on Sunday, after falling off the third floor of the building he lived in.

In the time since his rise to fame, after winning the reality show, Rajesh has been institutionalized several times after suffering mental breakdowns.

A doctor who had attended on the actor during one such episode said that he was very violent, and could not handle the presence of people.

Despite this, Rajesh continued to be in the glam industry, and he was often invited on TV shows, including the Kannada Bigg Boss.

While the makers had allegedly claimed that they wanted him to be a participant, following news of his failing mental health, it was instead decided to host him for just two days.

Contestant Arun Sagar had apparently even said that Rajesh was better off in the peace and quiet of the jungle.

Says a source, "During his Halli Hyda Pyatege banda days, the channel took care of Rajesh, including giving him a makeover, introducing him to the glam world, as well as financially. Once that was over, though, he was on his own, unable to return to his earlier life. In the time since, he has done two films, and rumours suggest that the makers of his first had allegedly cheated him of his remuneration. Apparently a cheque that was given to him recently bounced. In between all this, he had even got married, but there was trouble in the marriage very early on. His wife is back with her folks now. Despite all this, TV channels continued to hound him. While his death and that too in these circumstances, is unfortunate, it would have happened sooner or later. "

Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao reminded that V D Savarkar was not against cow slaughter as he himself was non-veg eater, PTI reported on Thursday.

"As a Brahmin he was eating meat, and he was openly propagating eating meat," said the minister at an event in Bengaluru.

Reacting to Gundu Rao's claim, BJP MP Anurag Thakur called Congress a "factory of lies" as he warned that India won't tolerate any disrespect towards Savarkar.

"By disrespecting Veer Savarkar they have shown that they don't respect freedom fighters. During the Congress government, Sardar Bhagat Singh was termed a separatist in textbooks...By making those who want to break the nation join the congress party, Rahul Gandhi is taking forward the ideology of 'tukde tukde' and he is a 'modern Jinnah' who speaks ill of the country abroad...," he said.

Meanwhile, a court in Maharashtra's Nashik district summoned Congress MP Rahul Gandhi earlier this week in a defamation case filed against him for his alleged objectionable remarks against the Hindutva ideologue.

The complainant, who is the director of an NGO, claimed he watched a press conference addressed by Gandhi in Hingoli and also a speech made by the Congress leader in November 2022.

He alleged that Gandhi, on the two occasions, by his words and visual representations knowingly harmed the reputation of Veer Savarkar and also tried to defame the latter's image in the society.

According to the complainant, Gandhi said "Savarkar is BJP and RSS jin" which was defamatory in nature.
