Mangaluru, Apr 20: Don't be surprised if you come across a statue of terrorist Nathuram Godse, who gunned down Mahatma Gandhi, in the temple in your vicinity.
The Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha, an extremist Hindutva outfit, which has pledged to popularize the thoughts and ideals of Godse, has now planned to install his statues at least in six districts of Karnataka including Mangaluru.

Addressing a media conference in the city on Monday, Hindu Mahasabha leader Swami Pranavananda called Godse a ‘Hindu patriot’, who had attained deeksha through VD Savarkar.
Pranavananda, who had gained prominence among right wing extremists in Karnataka after attempting suicide in protest against a Christian preacher in January, 2014, said that he had already submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioners of Dakshina Kannada and other five districts requesting them to provide a suitable space to install the statue of Godse.
Apart from Mangaluru, Godse’s statue would be installed in Ballari, Chitradurga, Bengaluru, Mysuru and Vijaypura, he said.
He lashed out at the government for installing statues of India’s freedom fighter Tipu Sultan and promoting him by giving his names to roads and colonies.
Stating that Hindu Mahasabha is committed to promote Hindu values and protect the interests of Hindus in the country, he said that the outfit may contest elections too in future. He clearly stated that his outfit does not require votes from non-Hindus like Muslims and Christians.
