Speaking to Coastaldigest.com at Police Station, Mr Katipalla said that Citizens Action Committee has been protesting against air and water pollution caused by coke yard and sulphur recovery units of Mangaluru Refinery and Petroleum Limited for past 10 months.
“Karnataka State Pollution Control Board too has issued show-cause notice to MRPL and did not renewed the licence for operation of the two units that came to an end on June 3. However, they are carrying out their operation illegally,” he said condemning the arrest of protesters.
