Mangaluru, Nov 7: The government of India is making all possible efforts to ensure the release of nine Indian expatriate workers, who were reportedly detained by authorities in Kuwait on charge of indulging in superstitious practice and illegal gathering, according to a BJP MP.

Nine office bearers of the Nava Chethana Welfare Association Kuwait (NCWAK) were reportedly taken into custody in the oil-rich emirate recently after they hosted a grand Satyanarayana Puja.
The detained expats have been identified as NCWAK president Ashok Kumar, and office-bearers Yadav Poojary, Anil Kumar, Kumar Vamanjor, Sathish Beluvai, Umsesh Shetty, Arun Shetty, Purushotham Kukyan and Prashanth Shetty.
All of them are said to be residents of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts of Karnataka.
Quoting sources of Indian Embassy, the MP said that the nine were taken into custody after they conducted the ritual without prior permission.
