Indian Cancer Society, a not-for-profit organisation has started free tele-consultation through a Helpline in collaboration with Government of Karnataka and Oracle.
Ms. Kanchan Bannerjee, Honorary Secretary said, “Due to Covid situation many cancer patients are finding difficult to reach the hospitals or their doctors, so patients and their families are going through lot of stress and are emotionally disturbed. They are losing hope and confidence. So, to help such patients this helpline has been launched. Indian Cancer Society has a panel of general physicians as well as Oncologists in different specialties to assist the patients”
How does this Helpline work?
When the patient or caregiver calls the Helpline number, doctors (Oncologist) talk to the patient to analyze their needs. Next the patient is asked to upload the report and medical history, based on this patient can interact with the doctor through audio or video. Then doctors give advice and prescription of the medicine through the Helpline itself. Callers do not have to download any app because it operates even on a basic phone model.
This helpline operates from Monday to Saturday from 9.00am to 5.00pm
