Mysuru, Nov 16: Just a day left for the election of Mayor and Deputy Mayor for heritage city, both the Congress and JD-S parties are seems to be asserting the positions with their numbers as a largest party within the coalition by staking a claim for the Mayor’s post.
All eyes will be on Mayor’s election for the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) which will be held on Saturday.
In an effort to assert itself, the Congress corporators held a meeting, under the leadership of former minister and senior congress leader Tanveer Sait.
Tourism and Sericulture minister Sa Ra Mahesh was busy in discussing the issues with the congress party leader including Tanveer Sait , they met twice already in the day, however, yet to come out with solutions.
Both the parties wanted the Mayor post on the basis of their numbers in the corporation.
Won’t interfere: Siddaramaiah
Meanwhile, former chief minister Siddaramaiah said that he would not interfere in the election process.
Speaking to media in the city on Friday, the go-to-man of the Congress, said, “I have spoken to Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Dinesh Gundu Rao. He will speak about the Mayor’s election.”
“Frankly, I have not discussed the issue with Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, District In-charge Minister G T Devegowda or Tourism Minister Sa Ra Mahesh from JD(S),” he said.
