DRI seizes gold worth Rs 1.3 crore; four NRI passengers from Dubai held

Bengaluru, Nov 25: Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials arrested a gang of four persons and seized gold worth Rs 1.3 cr from them in Bengaluru Kempegowda international airport.

DRI officials said on Wednesday that they have tip off that gold smuggling , officials arrested four persons travalled from Dubai to bangaluru and it was surprise that they have smuggling the gold which was found in a TV speaker box.

Officials said that three from Tamil Nadu and one from West Bengal.

They have arrived in the airport from Dubai and three of them carrying LED tv sets and another one carrying other electronic goods. Officials suspected and search upon them the gold biscuits were found in the t v sets. It was also suspected that they have involved in gold smuggling in Tamil Nadu also and besides they have international contacts. Officials claimed after the lockdown relaxation this is the highest smuggling.
