Drugs worth Rs 28 lakhs stuffed in Teddy bears seized

Bengaluru, Dec 7: Police have nabbed an inter-state drug smuggler and seized Rs 28 lakh worth 2200 YBA MDMA tablets, 71 gram heroin powder being smuggled to the city by stuffing in toys.

Police said on Monday that the arrested Shakir Hussain Choudhary was native of Monchora village, Harilaganalli district, Assam, was working as Driver and after losing his job he opted to tour the Bangladesh border with his family and smuggle the drugs.

He used to drive to the Bangladesh border along with his family and after purchasing the drugs he used to stuff them in Teddy Bear toys to avoid police attention and give it to his son for playing. He used to sell, thus smuggled, near School and Colleges.

Halasur Police have registered a case under various sections of NDPS Act and are investigating.
