Riyadh, Feb 10: Non-resident Indians from Karnataka residing in Gulf countries, who were expecting allocation of funds in 2019 Karnataka budget for their welfare as promised in Congress in its manifesto during 2018 state election, have expressed disappointment over the budget.
The release said that Indian Social Forum has been running campaign in Karnataka to support Gulf returnee and will continue its effort along with other organisations in the Gulf region to pressurise Karnataka to provide rehabilitation program for the Gulf return NRIs due to job crisis in the region.
As part of the campaign delegates from ISF Karnataka had met and submitted memorandum to Karnataka ministers and Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Senthil Kumar as well in the recent past but no favourable response is received so far.
Indian Social Forum request elected representatives and ministers from coastal belt to raise the voice in Assembly to get the necessary support from government to allocate reasonable budget of at least not less than Rs 100 crore for the Gulf NRIs, notably a good amount fund had been allocated by neighbouring Kerala and Telangana states recently.
