“Media is only highlighting the incidents that have been taking place in the state. But she is making unnecessary attacks on them,” said the former chief minister, a day after Banerjee had accused the media of inciting crimes and fabricating incidents of rape.
Bhattacharjee also criticised Mamata for accusing the judiciary of corruption. “There is no need to threaten the media and judiciary. An anarchy is prevailing in the state and it needs to be stopped,” he said a rally at Tamilibandh in Bankura town on the eve of party’s youth wing, DYFI’s, state conference.
The CPM leader blamed both the Centre and the state government for the increase in the prices of fertilisers, saying no step has been taken to prevent black marketing of the fertilisers.
“The prices of fertiliser have been going up every day but the state government and the Centre do not seem to be bothered by the plight of the farmers,” he said.
“Costly fertiliser will lead to food scarcity in the state and the country. West Bengal will no longer remain a leading producer of paddy in the country,” the Marxist leader said as he praised China for reducing the number of its poor people.
“The Centre is not bothered about the welfare of the poor in the country. A majority of the population is jobless,” he said.
