Saying that the BJP’s decision to throw him out of the party for six years over a “breach of discipline” was “stupid”, the noted lawyer and Rajya Sabha member added that “there are undesirable elements in the party who are out to demolish it from within”.
“They are in league with the corrupt rulers, whom I want to displace. And the cause of my expulsion is the presence of those undesirable elements in the party. I will not rest content till I expose them,” he said.
He believes that he was shown the door by the party because of his campaign against black money. BJP general secretary Ananth Kumar wrote to Jethmalani on Tuesday announcing the unanimous decision of the Parliamentary Board, headed by party president Rajnath Singh, to expel him.
The MP was suspended last November for raising his voice against then party chief Nitin Gadkari, who was facing an Income Tax probe on charges of business fraud that the Purti Group, which he once controlled, had allegedly indulged in.
The senior Supreme Court lawyer also remarked that the BJP was on a “suicidal course”, but felt that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is the best prime ministerial candidate of the BJP.
Interestingly, Modi was also part of the Parliamentary Board which decided to expel him from the party.
