Bengaluru, Dec 5: Aiming to hasten the process of land acquisition for industrial purposes, the Karnataka Cabinet has decided to bring certain industry-friendly amendments to the Karnataka Land Revenue Act 1964, Minister for Rural Development and Panchanath Raj Krishna Byregowda said here on Wednesday.
Briefing newsmen after the Cabinet meeting, he said that “with this decision the process of change in land use from agriculture to non-agriculture purposes was expected to be done within one month of time.
If the process was not completed within one month after submission of application under the single window system in the Revenue department, for other than valid reason/s, it would be deemed as approved.
It would help to weed out corrupt practices and also avoid middlemen," he added.
Among other decisions, he said that administrative approval was given to the Karnataka Neeravari Nigama Ltd (KNNL) to take up modernisation of Ghataprabha Left Bank Canal at a cost of over Rs 530 crores.
