Bengaluru, Jan 2: Karnataka Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Medical Education Dr K Sudhakar on Saturday said that the vaccine expected this month itself and the dry run will help to effectively implement the vaccination distribution across the state.
Speaking to newsmen after inspecting dry run at Yelahanka General Hospital in the city, he said that dry run is being carried out in five districts of the state. As many as 25 people were administered vaccines (mock) in the dry run. Regular meetings have been conducted with hospitals to prepare for the vaccination drive.
The Union Health Minister has said that all corona warriors will be administered vaccines in the first phase free of cost. Centre will issue detailed guidelines and SOPs for vaccination. All necessary infrastructure like cold storage, logistics, manpower are being arranged. We will also use the existing infrastructure and centre will augment the additional infrastructure, he added.
Dr Sudhakar, referring to UK returnees, said that 10 UK returnees in the state have been detected with a new strain of virus. All of them are being treated and isolated in government hospitals. The infection is not severe in any of them.
More than 12 lakh people have been in the state so far, he added.
