Bengaluru, Dec 18: The Karnataka Legislative Council Chairman, Pratapchandra Shetty, has issued a notice to Council Secretary, K R Mahalakshmi, for the ugly incidents, which were witnessed on December 15, in the house.
According to official sources, the Chairman took objections about some of the actions of the Council Secretary, including that of providing official papers to the Council Deputy Chairman, Dharmegowda who had allegedly occupied the Chair and tried to conduct the house.
The Council Secretary had been directed to reply to the notice within 48 hours on the unsavoury incidents which had shamed the House which has over 120 years of legacy of guarding democratic values.
The Chairman in his notice had also raised objections over the Secretary's conduct on December 15 which according to him was undemocratic and not in par with the traditions of the house.
It may be recalled that on December 15 the BJP members, who had served no-confidence motion against the Chairman had tried to prevent Chairman to enter the house by blocking the entrance of the door of the house, and had also tried to dislodge him, which had triggered chaotic scenes on which members belonging to ruling BJP and the Opposition exchanged blows.
The Congress members, in their attempt to allow the Chairman to occupy the seat, had physically dragged-out the Deputy Chairman from the Chair, overpowering the BJP members.
The house however had been adjourned sine die the house, once again after witnessing the ugly incidents.
The ruling BJP members, had met the Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Wala and had petitioned against the Chairman as well as the Congress members, alleging them for the unsavoury incidents in the house.
