Udupi, Nov 2: If everything goes as expected sea walkway will be ready at Malpe beach here by the end of this year.
Pramod Madhwaraj, Minister for Fisheries, Youth Empowerment and Sports, laid the foundation stone for the construction of a Sea Walkway Point at the tourist jetty on the Malpe beach on Wednesday.
The sea walkway point will be 500 m long and 8.5 m wide. It will be yet another attraction on Malpe beach. This will be the first Sea Walkway in the State.
Mr. Madhwaraj said, “The walkway would be a spot where people could de-stress.” Works worth Rs. 1.12 crore had already been taken up on the beach.
Efforts were being made to extend it to Padukere. The construction of the Malpe-Padukere bridge was helpful in this regard.
The Shantinagar beach at Padukere would be developed at a cost of Rs. 75 lakh.
