Bengaluru, Dec 15: Four corporations of the state-run Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), services of which have returned to normal on Tuesday, has incurred a loss of Rs 53 Crore due to four-day protest launched by the employees demanding treatment on par with state government employees.
Deputy Chief Minister Laxman Savadi, who is also Minister for Transport submitted a report to Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa in this connection.
There are a total of 1.30 lakh employees in four Corporations. The KSRTC has over 6,000 buses and were earning about Rs 7 crore a day. Another Rs 20 crore loss to KSRTC due to the strike by the employees. Five thousand BMTC buses ply in Bangalore earning Rs 2.10 Crore per day. It is estimated that the BMTC suffered a loss of about Rs 7 crore due to the strike.
