Chikkamagaluru, Nov 7: Karnataka Minister for Health and Medical Education Dr K Sudhakar today said that a medical college will be set up within the next two years in the coffee land.
Speaking to newsmen after reviewing Covid-19 and medical college project here on Saturday, he said that the foundation stone for Medical College will be laid in December by Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa.
He said as per the AMC rules, three primary health centers and one city central hospital will be upgraded. The government has already appointed 69 teachers and out of 91 primary health centers four doctors will be appointed.
He said that in Chikkamagaluru 1900 covid tests were done every day and the number of positive cases have come under control and death rate is 1.08 percent. He instructed officials to give treatment for the people under the Ayushman Bharat besides, visit health centers every month and review the situation.
Stating that about 2500 doctors appointment process began and this will end up by this month's end to avoid shortage, he added.
The Minister warned private hospitals against claiming more fees as it will attract cancellation of licence besides hefty penalties imposed.
