The tremors were felt in and around Pazhakulam, parts of Kurampala, and Paranthal in Adoor taluk and Nooranad and Palamel areas in Alappuzha district.

According to the police, the tremors were felt in Alappuzha around 10.30 a.m. in Adikatukulangara, Kudassanad, Palamel, Charumood, and Kurambala.

The villagers ran out of their houses, hearing a loud noise and echo that lasted only for a few seconds. Cracks on earth too were noticed in some places.

A 35-year-old worker, Abbas, who was working in the courtyard of a house at Pazhakulam, has been admitted to the Adoor General Hospital with head injuries.
