After the positive election results from the three states of Hindi heartland, Rahul Gandhi addressing the media said that this victory in the assembly election is the victory of party workers, farmers, small businessmen/owners and he thanked them. He said that the victory has brought a major responsibility. “We will work toward fulfilling that responsibility. I would like to thank all the people who worked for Congress in the states we have won as well as in the states we have lost,” He added.

He thanked the chief ministers of the states where the Congress has registered victory. “They (the chief ministers) have worked a lot there and we would like to take their work forward.

But he said it clearly that It's now time for change. “We are going to provide the three states with a vision for overall development.”

Commenting on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2019, Rahul Gandhi said, “With the resurgent Congress and united opposition, it would be very difficult for Prime Minister Modi and the BJP to come back to power. It is clear that people are not happy with what the government has been doing, people are not happy with demonetisation. So, it will be difficult for them to come back to power in 2019.”
“There is a clear feeling in the country that PM Modi has failed to deliver what he had committed,” Rahul Gandhi added.

Commenting on the future equation with the SP and BSP, he said, “the ideology of SP BSP is similar to that of the Congress. We were very open in our conversation but ‘baat bani nahi.(But it did not work out.)’”

When questioned on the party’s concerns about the EVMs, Rahul Gandhi said that the doubts have been raised over EVMs all over the world and the Congress will continue raising the concerns. “The question of EVM is a generic issue and is being raised the world over. The people are not comfortable with this. The electronic system of voting can be tampered with but mannual voting can not be. This question is being raised the world over and not only in India. So this question is not off the table,” he said.

On PM Modi and the present Central government Rahul Gandhi said, “Prime Minister Modi was elected on three issues; employment, corruption and farmers. And the reality is that corruption took place in Rafale deal. The truth about it will be revealed one day. Farmers are in bad shape. Economy is in a bad shape. Frankly PM is paralysed. He is unable to take the pressure. India is facing job crises, PM should be able to face it.”

Regarding the loan waiver for the farmers, Rahul Gandhi said, “we have said that the process of loan waiver for farmers will start as soon as our governments are formed.”

On Congress strategy for the coming Lok Sabha election, he said, “our approach is different than the BJP. The BJP has one ideology. We will fight against it but we don’t want to make India free of that ideology. We will fight it but not make India ‘mukt’ of it.

He called demonetisation is a scam and said that under BJP big mismanagement of economy took place, unnecessary damage was done to sections of economy that were doing well.

Talking about the 2014 elections, he said, “PM Modi had a vision. The country had patience to listen to him to consider that vision but honestly he and the BJP completely failed.”

He added that the most important thing that he learnt during 2014 elections was humility. This is a great country and the most important thing is its people. We have to connect to them as political leader. Five years ago PM Modi was given an opportunity to work for the country. But it is sad that he refused to listen to the heart beat of this country, the youth of this country.

About the farmers plight he said, “I said in my speeches that loan waiver is a supporting step but not the solution. Solution is not easy but we will do it, we will support farmers. For that we will have to work with the farmers and the people of this country.

He attributed the party’s success in three states to the vision that the BJP was not able to project before them and the hard work of the Congress party workers. “They were very effective in winning the elections. We also very effectively ironed out the tension which are there between the leaders,” he said.

He constantly stressed on the problem of unemployment, corruption and farmers and said that his party will formulate a vision so that these problems could be sorted out in the states.

Bengaluru: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar and other state ministers on Saturday rubbished allegations about their role in the circulation of pen drives containing explicit videos involving Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna.

BJP leader and advocate G Devaraje Gowda, who is in custody after being arrested in a sexual abuse case and is also facing charges of video leak, on Friday alleged that Shivakumar and four other ministers are behind the circulation of the pen drives and was being fixed in false cases as he did not agree to be part of their plan.

He has even alleged that he was offered Rs 100 crore by Shivakumar to "bring a bad name" to the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and to tarnish the image of JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy in Prajwal Revanna's obscene video case.

Speaking to reporters here, Shivakumar said, "Better, let him (Gowda) file a case before Lokayukta or any other agency. I think he has some problems mentally. I'm very sorry, the national and state media shouldn't have picked up such baseless allegations. A person who is in jail, how can he make such allegations? All these are baseless. I don't want to comment."

Asked if he will be filing any defamation case against Gowda, he said, "I don't want to make any comment or speak on a person who is mentally sick. I appeal to his party people to get him a good treatment." Shivakumar also asserted that his government's commitment to get justice for women victims of the sexual abuse case, and expressed confidence about the Special Investigation Team's (SIT) ongoing probe.

While being taken from court in Hassan, Gowda on Friday spoke to media and alleged that Shivakumar is behind pen drive case, and a team of four Ministers -- N Chaluvarayaswamy, Krishna Byre Gowda, Priyank Kharge and another minister -- was formed to handle this, with an intention to bring bad name to BJP, PM Modi and Kumaraswamy.

He said Shivakumar had asked him to say that Kumaraswamy is behind the distribution of pen drives, but as he did not agree to it, he is being fixed in false cases.

Minister Priyank Kharge said Gowda has alleged that three responsible ministers in the state government were part of a team and that there was a conspiracy. "We will discuss whatever legal course, we will take it."

"Devaraje Gowda might be doing this to defame Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah. If he had a Rs 100 crore offer, he should have told Amit Shah (Union Home Minister) and get it investigated. He could have got CBI, ED, or IT raids done. Why didn't he do it? Claims have been made that he (Gowda) was sent Rs 5 crore as advance at a club, let them get CCTV footage and see who were all there," Kharge said.

While speaking to reporters here, he further said Gowda is a lawyer. When he was deposed before the Judge he should have told about the documents he has and should have presented to the court.

Minister Chaluvarayaswamy said allegations about the role of Shivakumar and a team of ministers being formed to oversee the circulation of pen drives are 'baseless', and he questioned Gowda's morality to make such accusations.

"If Gowda proves that Chaluvarayaswamy, Priyank Kharge and Krishna Byre Gowda had held a meeting on this case and we as a team were given responsibility and we were involved in this case, I will apologise," he said and alleged that Gowda was being used to mislead and deviate from the main case of sexual abuse.

A day after National Commission for Women said no woman from Hassan approached the national body to file complaints against Karnataka MP Prajwal Revanna, a new FIR accusing BJP leader Devaraje Gowda of abusing and assaulting a woman has come to light.

The FIR against Gowda was filed by a woman at the Holenarasipura town police station on April 1, after her husband had filed a complaint against the BJP leader on March 30.

The purported victim's husband has alleged in his plaint that Gowda barged into their home, and threatened the couple while the BJP leader also abused the woman.

Gowda, notably, flagged Prajwal Revanna's case to the saffron party.

Reacting to the allegations levelled against him, the BJP politico posted a video on Facebook where he details how he met the woman and her husband in his office. He also claims that the allegations against him are a plot and false.

It must be noted here that a Special Investigation Team is currently probing the sexual assault cases against Prajwal Revanna who along with his driver Karthik is no longer in the country. A Blue Corner notice is also in place to apprehend the son of H D Revanna who himself is placed under judicial custody till May 14.

In a major twist to the entire case— the woman in the FIR alleged that Devaraje Gowda who apprised BJP of the sex videos involving Prajwal Revanna— has been harassing her for the past 10 months under the guise of helping her sell a property.

The woman also said that she came in contact with Gowda during the process involving the property that she wanted to sell. However, on the pretext of guiding her, the woman alleged that the whistleblower BJP leader physically assaulted and harassed her while Gowda also threatened the couple.

The woman has now sought police protection for herself and family. Further levelling allegations against Gowda in her plaint, she said that the politico had taken her to an isolated place where he assaulted her and threatened to kill the couple.

Former chief minister of Karnataka and Prajwal Revanna's uncle H D Kumaraswamy recently demanded a CBI probe in the Prajwal Revanna matter. However, Home Minister G Parameshwara turned down the demand for the investigation to be handed over to CBI.
