Bengaluru, Jan 16: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Saturday underlined that one should not have fear or doubt over the vaccine developed by Indian Scientist to fight against Coronavirus pandemic which has claimed precious lives of thousands of people.
The Chief Minister was speaking after vaccinating a driver at Victoria Hospital in the city. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi and Minister for Health and Medical Education Dr K Sudhakar, among others present on the occasion.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the drive across the country. In each centre 100 covid warriors will be vaccinated and it will be increased in the coming days.
Mr Yediyurappa said in the country nearly 3 crore Covid warriors have been vaccinated.
He appealed to the people to come forward to get vaccinated without any fear and worry.
Dr Sudhakar, in his address, said the vaccination began at 243 centers across the state after the Prime Minister launched it. Some private hospitals like St. Johns Medical College have also been included in this initiative. Covi-shield will be distributed in 237 centres and Covaxin in 6 centres in Bellary, Shivamogga, Hassan, Chikmagalur, Chamarajanagar and Davangere.
In all 7,17,439 health warriors will be vaccinated in the initial phase and aiming to vaccinate 24,300 people on the first day itself. There are 8,14,500 doses of vaccine available and the initial phase is expected to complete within a week, said the Minister.
As a precautionary measure there will be emergency medical service available at the site of vaccination to meet any side effects, if reported.
The Minister warned against misleading reports in social media and called upon the people not to get carried away and listen to only official handles.
He said that Health warriors, Police staff and poura karmikas have been registered in the first phase.
