Dubai, April 6: The UAE Amchigele Samaj 2012 organised a picnic to the Al-Ain Wildlife Park and Resort (Zoo) recently. The event was attended by over 300 community members in UAE. The managing committee had arranged for four buses to commute from Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman.
All members with their families met at the reporting point at Dnata in Dubai, near Spinneys in Sharjah and in Abu Dhabi before proceeding to Al-Ain.
The families enjoyed the drive and had fun playing antakshari and singing songs on the way. The group toured various sections of the Zoo. Children were thrilled seeing the wildlife which included lions, hyenas, meer cats, variety of birds, giraffes, monkeys etc.
The reptile house with different types of pythons, tortoises, fishes and the crocodile pond was vastly informative. The attractions of the day were the Penguins. Many members enjoyed feeding the giraffes.
After lunch, the fun and frolic continued where in members enjoyed with their family and friends playing fun games. There were games for all categories, starting with dress up for Kids - below five years of age.
Parents were at their creative best dressing up their child innovatively with Newspapers. Following this was another round of games for the 5-12 age group, which again saw participation from kids in full strength. There was musical chair for children. Elders and children participated together in catch the pillar game which was enjoyed by all. The games finale saw the polo game, wherein, elders standing in a row, had their hands tied and had to pass the most number of Polos in the least time frame using a tooth pick.
The Samaj President, Rajiv Kamat introduced the new 2012 Committee members and spoke on the objectives of the Samaj that the team had planned to achieve during the year.
He also threw light on how the Samaj Bandhavas can make value addition and help achieve the objective in a more efficient manner. The Samaj Bandhavas were briefed on all the upcoming programmes of the Samaj like the blood donation camp in April followed by the talents day programme in May 2012.
The president also spoke on the social responsibility work that the Samaj had initiated towards educating the needy children of the Samaj through the Ekalavya Project that was successfully implemented in the previous years.
