‘Empowerment of nation possible only through empowerment of all communities’

Doha, June 23: Development in all aspects of the Indian society is possible only through the empowerment of all communities, said Riyaz Pasha, General Secretary, Popular front of India.

Addressing the Indian expatriates in a talk organised by Qatar India Fraternity Forum, at the Fraternity house, Mansoora, recently, he said that the collective efforts from expatriate Indians could play a major role in the empowerment of backward and marginalised communities in India.

He reminded that the status of Indian Muslims is worse than that of the scheduled cast and scheduled tribe according to Rajinder Sachar Committee appointed in 2005 by the Indian prime minister, to prepare a report on the latest social, economical educational conditions of the Muslim community.

He lamented that the suggestions of Sachar Committee report to the Government were still now not implemented.

He said that the overall percentage of Muslims in bureaucracy in India is very low whereas Muslims constitute around 12% to 14% of Indian population. As we live in the 21st century, the widening divide between the rich and poor, and the hegemony of superstitious upper cast bureaucracy over the Indian administration is a huge hindrance to developing the community, he pointed out.

He specified that the struggle for the empower the community should continue and the socio cultural organisation like Qatar India Fraternity Forum should prioritise their works on the merit of issues, beginning with elimination of blocks that hinder the balanced development of Indian society.

Discrimination on the basis of religion, region, caste, language and gender still prevails and struggle to eliminate this discrimination should be the first objective of those who wish to prevail Empower the nation, he said.

Mowlavi Jaseer started the programme with recitation verses from Holy Quran. Abdul Aziz Subhan inaugurated the programme. Zafar Ahmad presided.
