Jeddah, Aug 25: The Karnataka chapter of India Fraternity Forum organized an ‘NRI Freedom meet’ in Jeddah as part of celebrating 67th Independence Day of India.
NRIs from different parts of Karnataka took part with great enthusiasm on August 15th with the slogan of ‘Be the Sentinels of Freedom’.
IFF Jeddah central council member Abdul Majeed welcomed the gathering and KM Shareef, Chairman, Popular Front of India, delivered the Independence Day message.
While delivering the message he conveyed that, while we celebrating 66 years of independence, we need to understand that freedom of the nation lies in the improvement in the living standards of the entire underprivileged and marginalized communities who have been victims of discrimination and in order to make India a great place to live, he stressed the need of every Indian to take responsibility towards betterment and uplift of deprived and less fortunate people, and it is the duty of every expatriate to extend our support in all possible ways. He reminded the gathering that, the Quran describes true believer’s duty is "to enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong. ‘Unless we change ourselves and our angle of thought, we will remain just politically free nation and slaves of narrow outlook’, he concluded.
Haris Mohammed delivered the vote of thanks. Ashraf Falcon and Mohammed Iqbal Chemban were also present.
