Kannur, Sept 8: In yet another political murder, an activist of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) was hacked to death in broad daylight in Kerala’s Kannur district.
The victim is Syed Muhammad Salahuddin (30), an activist of SDPI. According to police, he was the seventh accused in the case relating to the murder of ABVP activist Shyamaprasad in January 2018. He was released on bail.
The incident took place around 4 p.m. in Kaichery near Kannavam in Kannur district when Salahuddin was travelling in a car with his family.
It is learnt that the assailants followed the car on a motorbike and rammed into the car. When Salahuddin stopped the vehicle and came out, he was hacked.
Salahuddin suffered injuries on his neck and was taken to Thalassery cooperative hospital. But he died before arriving at the hospital. The body was then shifted to general hospital here.
SDPI has held RSS responsible for the murder. “Prima facie, it is a pre-planned murder. The district level leaders of RSS are involved in this cold-blooded murder,” said SDPI Kerala state unit. The party also has threatened to launch an agitation if police fails to arrest the culprits.
