Mumbai, November 23: He is fast making a name as the 'New Wall' of Team India and rightly so. Cheteshwar Pujara scored his third century in Test matches and second in consecutive games to lead India's charge against England on a spin friendly track in Mumbai's Wankhede stadium. His hundred came off 248 balls in trying pitch conditions as well as circumstances.
The youngster is yet to be dismissed by England's bowlers in the series - he is 350 plus and going strong.
With this, Cheteshwar Pujara also becomes the third Indian to score hundreds in first two Tests vs England, after Mohammad Azharuddin & Sourav Ganguly.
India were jolted with multiple strikes, mainly by the spinners Graeme Swann and Monty Panesar, but Pujara held firm with his unflappable style of batting. His comparisons with Indian greats Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman are imminent but he is making quick strides to form an image of his own.
It was not a chanceless innings but on a viciously turning track and against one of the finest spinners in recent times in Swann, it will definitely go down as a typically dogged knock, which once Dravid was known for.
While big names Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni could not deal with the pitch, the youngster showed immense powers of concentration to play a great Test knock.
