Tucker tramples forest official to death in Nagarahole National Park

Mysuru, Dec 25: A 52 year-old forest watcher died after being trampled to death by a wild elephant in Nagarahole National Park on Thursday evening, official sources said here on Friday.

Two others were injured in the attack.

The deceased was identified as Gururaj. He was patrolling with Chandru and Ashok when all of a sudden the elephant rushed towards them and attacked, Nagarahole Tiger Project Director Mahesh Kumar said.

Gururaj had been serving in the department since 1991.

Injured Chandru and Ashok were rushed to hospital.

The department will pay compensation as per norms to the family of the deceased, he added.
