Mangalore, July 17: The knowledge of Tulu script would help to know more about ancient architecture, vaastu-shastra and astrology, according to Pradeep Kumar Kalura, President Dakshina Kannada district Sahitya Parishat.
Speaking at the release of 'Tulu Lipi Akshara Male', (Tulu alphabet), here on Saturday, he laid emphasis on the importance of studying the ancient Tulu script, which according to him, is a treasure trove of knowledge.
Mr Kalkura pointed out that Tulu had been the administrative language for a long time.
Playwright Vijaykumar Kodialbail, who released the book, said that response to his film 'Oridardori Asal' dispelled the myth the there was not much support for Tulu. “People accepted it when it is given in particular form”, he said.
The 16-page booklet priced at Rs 50 is a reprint of the compilation made by Venkataraja Puninchithaya.
It was first brought out by the Tulu Sahitya Academy in 2001 and was reprinted in 2004.
The present booklet printed by Tulunad Samskruti Vedike Trust has the Tulu alphabets, numbers and names 12 Tulu months.
