Women welfare centres to be opened across Karnataka

Kalaburagi, Jan 12: Karnataka Minister for Women and Children Welfare Shashikala Jolle here on Tuesday said that the state government has proposed to open women welfare centres across the state to take care of them.

Addressing presspersons here, Minister Shashikala said that the government has already sanctioned women welfare centres in 29 districts of the state and they would be constructed in district headquarters.

She said that the process of construction of Welfare Centers have already started in some of the districts wherever land was available

Minister Jolle said the government has instructed officials of police, revenue and women and children welfare departments to give immediate attention to cases of atrocity against women.

She agreed that there are reports of an increase of child marriages during the lockdown period in North Karnataka but, the officials have prevented many of the child marriages in different districts, she said.

Minister said that the government has given stress to implement "Poshana Abhiyan" launched by the Union Government and already the work of distribution of smartphones have been given to Anganwadi Workers and Supervisors to monitor the growth of the children in state Anganawadis, she said.
