Koppa, Dec 29: Arrested alleged Indian Mujahideen leader Yasin Bhatkal was brought to Vittalmakki of Koppa taluk in Chikmagalur on Saturday by the National Investigation Agency officials who held detailed investigation in the area.
Ahmed Bava, said to be a friend of Bhatkal, had set up a toy-making unit on two acres of land in Vitlamakki. Bhatkal is said to have taken shelter in this unit while he was on the run from the police. The Mangalore police had raided the place in 2008 on the suspicion that Bhatkal was assembling bombs there. The owner of the said land and few others were also questioned in this connection.
Couple of year ago, Mangalore police had received an information on Yasin, who was reportedly riding his bike alone. However, he had managed to escape the police then. But, the cops had nabbed his close aide Ahmed Bawa and four others.
Yasin had revealed about his stay at Vittalmakki after being nabbed by the cops in connection to Hyderabad blast.
Bhatkal was brought to Vitlamakki from Delhi via Mangalore, amid tight security by 15 armed guards. He was subjected to medical examination at the local hospital and taken to the toy-making unit where he reportedly took shelter.
