Speaking after paying tribute to Vishva Hindu Parishad patron Ashok Singhal at condolence meet organised by the Udupi district unit of VHP, the seer said that the fulfilling the dream of Ram Mandir construction would be the right tribute to the departed soul of Singhal.
“I have no regrets for Babri demolition. It was a good and timely decision. We were happy when the demolition took place on December 6,” he said.
“When BJP came to power at the Centre for the first time and Atal Bihari Vajpayee became prime minister, I had advised him to build the Mandir. But, he had ignored my advice,” the seer recalled.
The seer went on to claim that Singhal was responsible or bringing the Hindu religion under a single umbrella. “He was the epitome of sacrifice and service,” he said.
“Singhal wanted to organise a huge convention of VHP in Udupi during the forthcoming paryaya of the mutt. His untimely death will not stop the process,” he said.
He also called upon the followers of Singhal to take up the campaign for Ram Mandir.
