Gulf Medical University Founder Dr. Thumbay Moideen Honored with Golden Apple Award

Dr. Thumbay Moideen – Founder, President Board of Trustees, GMU honored with ‘Golden Apple’ for his visionary leadership and relentless pursuit of excellence.

• BA Center for Online Education launched at GMU

• GMU Alumni Association Board constituted as part of the event. 

Gulf Medical University (GMU), Ajman founded in 1998 by Dr. Thumbay Moideen & Owned by Thumbay Group, celebrated its 22nd anniversary in a special event at the University campus on 5th November 2020, attended by the chief guest Dr. Thumbay Moideen – Founder, President Board of Trustees of GMU and presided by Prof. Hossam Hamdy – Chancellor of GMU, in the presence of the Vice Chancellors, Deans, Faculty and Staff and a number of students who watched the event streamed live on YouTube.

The academic leadership of the University, headed by the Chancellor honored Dr. Thumbay Moideen with a ‘Golden Apple’ memento at the event, in honor of his visionary leadership and foresight which laid the seeds of GMU’s excellence and continue to take it to newer heights. “23 years ago, there was no Gulf Medical University, but through Dr. Thumbay Moideen’s vision, leadership and hard work and above all his ethical values, we now have this magnificent campus and a strong reputation as the biggest specialized leading medical university in the region having 6 Colleges 26 accredited programs and having more than 4000 students which include full time & students perusing Certificate programs. 

“This honor is to acknowledge his role in shaping the future of the region’s healthcare industry, and for producing the next generation of healthcare professionals who bring laurels to the University and the country. Dr. Thumbay Moideen’s efforts are commendable and truly deserve the golden apple honor, Dr. Thumbay Moideen is the First Recipient of the Golden apple Award by GMU. 

The event also witnessed the official launch of the ‘BA Center for Online Education’ at Gulf Medical University, in honor of renowned Indian businessman and philanthropist, the late Dr. B. Ahmed Hajee Mohiudeen, Founder of BA Group India, and father of Dr. Thumbay Moideen. The center would design and deliver online professional education to medical professionals, students and individuals around the world, through a range of certificate programs.

Also, part of the event was the formal announcement of the GMU Alumni Association Board, was announced.

Wishes from all over the Globe poured in from various Board Member, 60 Partner Institutions and Various Alumni from different countries wished the Founder and GMU team for all the developments and Achievements.

Mangaluru, Nov 7: In the quiet village of Tippunagar, Loretto Padavu, a heartbreaking accident claimed the life of three-year-old Aashika on Wednesday, leaving a family and community shattered.

Aashika, the beloved daughter of Unais from Pattanabailu near Farangipet, was simply enjoying a carefree moment, playing outside her grandmother’s house. It was then that an unimaginable tragedy struck: a parked goods tempo, owned by her uncle, unexpectedly rolled backward, trapping the innocent child beneath its wheels.

Despite her family’s desperate rush to get her to the hospital, little Aashika’s injuries proved too severe, and she was declared dead upon arrival. Her passing has cast a deep shadow over the close-knit community, who grieve alongside her family for the life taken too soon.

The Bantwal traffic police have registered a case and are investigating the incident, while the community mourns the loss of a precious young soul who had only just begun to experience life’s wonder.

Mangaluru, Nov 3: A quiet morning turned perilous for a farmer in Elathur, near Kinnigoli on the outskirts of the city, as a leopard attacked him while he was cutting grass. 

Ligori, a resident of Kalkare, was startled by the sudden assault and suffered injuries to his face but managed to escape and reach safety. He was promptly taken to the hospital for medical care.

Residents in Elathur have been on edge for over a week following reports of leopard sightings in the area. Today’s incident has heightened concerns among the local farming community, who now fear for their safety.

With a significant population of farmers in the region, villagers are demanding immediate action from the forest department to capture the leopard and ensure their safety. 

The community awaits a response, hoping for swift intervention to prevent further attacks.

In a tragic turn of events, a young spectator lost his life during a bull-taming event, Kobbari Hori, at Chigalli in Mundgod taluk, Uttara Kannada, on Saturday. 

Parameshwar Siddappa Harijan, aged 22, was fatally gored by a marauding bull during the event, which had drawn large crowds as part of the Deepavali festival celebrations.

With thousands of spectators lining the path to witness the action, the event took a horrific turn when the bull charged directly at Parameshwar, inflicting severe injuries. 

Despite efforts to rush him to the hospital, Parameshwar tragically succumbed to his wounds on the way.

In response to the fatal accident, another bull-taming event scheduled for the evening in Mundgod town was promptly cancelled, as shock and grief swept through the community following the heartbreaking incident.
