Syed Nasir Khurshid welcomed all the attendees and expressed his views with heavy heart and said, Congress party and India has lost a great leader, who was secular in his nature and character and was treating everyone with respect irrespective of his caste, creed and background.  Shri Ahmed Patel enjoyed a greater role and power in the Congress party, and he was a political advisor to the Sonia Gandhi for a longer time and he acquired this position on the merit basis. He gave a brief political career details of Shri Ahmed Bhai Patel, that Mr. Patel was first time elected to the Lok Sabah at the age of 26 years in the year 1977. While concluding his speech he said we have very prominent personality Mr. Saleem Khaleefa with us, vice chairman, Intellectual council of Gulbarga who is also a loyal congressman, affiliated with congress party from his student life, on the policies, program and secular characters of the party, let’s hear his views.

Saleem Khaleefa expressed his deep sorrow on the sudden demise of Ahmed Bhai Patel. He explained that Shri Ahmed Patel was a brilliant political leader he had acquired a lot of natural abilities to be called a progressive leader. He was a bridge between all congressmen and the High Command and had an ample respect in the eyes of Sonia Gandhi and all members of Congress Working Committee. He also had good friends in all political parties.

He was one of the most important pillars of the Congress party and was a very loyal and he was never a power monger. He refused to become a cabinet member in UPA I and UPA II, he was very keen to improve the organizational skills of the party and focused his whole life in strengthening the party across the India.  He was a very sensible leader and he got the titles of Chanakya and Sankat Mochak of the party and he proved his abilities on many difficult occasions and recently he played a Chanakya role when he convinced the Congress High Command to extend the support and form the government with the Shiv Sena in Maharashtra, in order to keep the BJP out of power. For me who can replace Ahmed bhai Patil in congress is our Karnataka Congress President Shri D.K. Sivakumar, who has showed his abilities of being a junior Chanakya, CWC should take a decision to give him more powers to take decisions for party at Central level. He was elected three times to Lok Sabah and 5 times to Rajya Sabah. He also served as the president of Pradesh Congress Committee of Gujarat. On his untimely demise, all political leaders, irrespective of their affiliation, including Prime Minister, Modiji expressed deep grief. He ended his speech by saying that, Congress has lost a great leader and it seems very difficult to find a replacement of Mr. Patel in the Congress party. Sonia Gandhi and former prime Minister Manmohan Singh expressed their deep sorrow and grief on the demise of Ahmed bhai Patel. Both acknowledged that he was the most sincere and loyal leader of the congress party, both lost their best friend also.

Sajid Shaikh expressed his deep grief and said, he was an honest leader of the congress party, who always kept himself at low profile, who focused on work only and he was away from the limelight. He had very good relations with media persons and used to meet and greet with respect even to an ordinary person. For him Party was everything he always wanted to remain in the party organization hierarchy. He served party with different capacity for more than 45 years and got the title from the party presidents the most loyal and faithful congress leader in the recent history of the party. He worked with Smt. Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi with his topmost honesty and dedication.

He played a very significant role during UPAI & UPA II, he was one of the policy makers of the government during the Congress government at the center.

Other prominent members who attended this tribute meeting and paid their deep tribute to Mr. Patel, were Abdul Waheed, Syed Hazrath Khadri, Salim Khan, Mohammed Afsar, and Rayyan Khaleefa, while speaking they paid their gratitude, respect, affection and admiration to the departure soul. IPLschedule.jpg

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is set to resume on May 17, with the final scheduled for June 3, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Monday. The league, which was suspended last Friday due to escalating hostilities between India and Pakistan, will now continue at six selected venues, with the locations for the playoffs yet to be finalized.

Following the ceasefire announcement between India and Pakistan, the BCCI held urgent consultations with the government to restart the tournament. As a result, the revised schedule was confirmed, beginning with Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Kolkata Knight Riders on May 17 in Bengaluru. The following day will feature a double-header: Rajasthan Royals vs Punjab Kings in Jaipur (afternoon) and Delhi Capitals vs Gujarat Titans in Delhi (evening).

In addition to Bengaluru, Delhi, and Jaipur, the remaining league matches will be hosted in Lucknow, Ahmedabad, and Mumbai. The abandoned Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match from May 8 will now be played on May 24 in Jaipur.

The BCCI had considered relocating the remainder of the tournament to southern venues like Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, away from the Line of Control. However, Chennai and Hyderabad will not host any further league matches. Kolkata was also ruled out due to unfavorable weather forecasts, according to BCCI sources.

Venue Adjustments and Team Impacts

Among teams vying for a playoff spot, Punjab Kings are the only side to lose home advantage. They were originally scheduled to host two matches in Dharamsala, including the previously abandoned game. Both of those fixtures will now be played at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

Initially, the IPL was planned to conclude by May 31, but the final has now been pushed to June 3. The BCCI opted to minimize player workload in peak summer by limiting double-headers to just two Sundays (May 18 and May 25).

Other minor scheduling changes include Royal Challengers Bengaluru concluding their league campaign at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, instead of at home.

The venues for the playoffs and final—originally assigned to Hyderabad and Kolkata—are still under consideration. If these are ruled out, Ahmedabad is a strong contender, possibly sharing hosting duties with another venue.

Background and Player Concerns

The league was abruptly suspended last Thursday after tensions escalated near Pathankot, just 80 km from Dharamsala, which led to a mid-match abandonment. A drone strike in the region and a subsequent blackout prompted the BCCI to act swiftly. The following day, the league was officially paused for a week.

With the ceasefire in place by Saturday, franchises were asked to reassemble their squads by Tuesday. Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians have already resumed training, with others expected to follow by Wednesday.

However, a major concern looms over the availability of overseas players, many of whom have returned to their home countries. Notably, Australian pacers Josh Hazlewood (RCB) and Mitchell Starc (Delhi Capitals) are unlikely to return due to minor injuries. Both are also expected to feature in the World Test Championship Final against South Africa, starting June 11.

New Delhi, May 10: In a detailed joint briefing today, India’s defence and foreign ministries dismantled Pakistan’s claims of major strikes on Indian infrastructure and exposed Islamabad’s alleged attempts to escalate conflict along the border. Here's a clear breakdown of 12 crucial points made by Indian military officials:

1. Pakistan’s Claims Are False
The Indian government called Pakistan’s statements about destroying airbases, power grids, and cyber systems “completely false” and “state-sponsored propaganda.”

2. No Damage to Indian Airbases
Indian officials categorically denied Pakistani claims of hitting Sirsa, Suratgarh, and the S-400 radar base in Udhampur.

3. Pakistan Used Multiple Attack Platforms
Pakistan employed UCAVs (unmanned combat aerial vehicles), loitering munitions, long-range missiles, and fighter aircraft to target military and civilian sites.

4. Civilian Infrastructure Targeted
Pakistan struck schools and a Medicare centre near Indian Air Force bases in Srinagar, Awantipora, and Udhampur.

5. Over 26 Locations Attacked
India reported air intrusions and harassment attacks across 26+ locations from Srinagar to Naliya, along the Line of Control (LoC) and international border.

6. Limited Damage at IAF Bases
Minor damage occurred at four IAF stations: Udhampur, Patan, Adampur, and Bhuj — but all operations remain unaffected.

7. Heavy Cross-Border Shelling
Sectors like Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajouri, and Akhnoor saw intense artillery, mortar, and small arms fire — all met with strong Indian retaliation.

8. Pakistan Moving Troops to Forward Areas – Signals Possible Escalation
The Indian Army observed significant Pakistani troop mobilisation toward forward posts along the LoC. This movement, described as “indicative of offensive intent,” suggests that Pakistan may be preparing for a wider military escalation. The Indian armed forces are on high operational alert, closely monitoring the situation and ready to respond to any provocation.

9. India’s Response: Swift, Measured, Targeted
In retaliation, India struck only military assets — radar stations, command centres, and storage sites — using precision air-launched weapons.

10. No Damage to Critical Indian Defences
Pakistan’s claims of destroying India’s S-400 systems, BrahMos base, and Chandigarh ammo depot were debunked with timestamped visual evidence.

11. Pakistan Trying to Spread Communal Discord
Indian officials accused Pakistan of fabricating stories to stoke communal unrest in India — calling such efforts "doomed to fail."

12. India Committed to Responsible Conduct
India reiterated its commitment to non-escalation — “provided Pakistan reciprocates.” Officials stressed that India’s military operations have been calibrated and proportionate.

Mangaluru, May 10: A new chapter in Mangaluru’s infrastructure story unfolds on May 16, as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah arrives to inaugurate two transformative projects: the newly built Deputy Commissioner’s Office at Padil and a world-class indoor stadium at Urwa.

These developments signal a strong push toward better governance and enhanced urban amenities in the coastal city.

₹75 Crore DC Office

The new DC Office, spread across a modern campus at Padil, comes with a price tag of ₹75 crore. Initially budgeted at ₹55 crore, the project received an additional ₹20 crore under the Smart City Mission, aimed at integrating technology and convenience in public administration.

“This facility reflects our vision of a centralized, people-friendly government. With 23 departments under one roof, citizens can now access services more efficiently,” said District In-charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao.

The phased relocation of departments will begin on the day of inauguration and be completed over the next 2 to 3 weeks.

₹35 Crore Indoor Stadium Opens Doors

Also on the agenda is the grand opening of Mangaluru’s new indoor sports complex in Urwa, built for ₹35 crore. This ultra-modern facility is equipped to host national-level indoor events and will offer quality training infrastructure for emerging sports talent in the region.

Initiated during Siddaramaiah’s previous term, both the stadium and DC Office projects are now ready for public use and are expected to create lasting impact.

“These projects are not just buildings. They are investments in governance, youth, and the future of Mangaluru,” said Rao.
