Ballari/Bagalkot, Dec 20: In two different incidents in Karnataka, nearly 70 students studying in two governments schools in Ballari and Bagalkotdistricts took ill after they ate lunch supplied under mid-day meal programme on Thursday.
The first incident food poisioning was reported from Governments high school in Hagalouru village of Siraguppa taluk in the Ballari district where the children who ate vegetable pulav prepared in the school kitchen fell ill after a dead lizard was allegedly found in one of the plates served to the students, and 30 of them threw up in a panic reaction.
They were rushed to local hospital and doctors said all children were given necessary treatment and were out of danger.
In the second incident 40 students of Government High School in Chikamagi Village in Bagalkot district complained of nausea and vomiting after they ate 'sambar rice' cooked in the school kitchen for lunch.
They were rushed to Ballari Government hospital and doctors said they were out of danger.
