Lucknow, Jan 23: Rajput outfits on Monday staged demonstrations in several parts of Uttar Pradesh, vandalised theaters at some places and warned them against the screening of Padmaavat, which is set to release on Thursday.
According to the police sources here, members of the outfits broke window panes of a theater in Hapur, where Padmaavat was scheduled to be screened.
Besides, the outfits also staged demonstrations at Allahabad, Baghpat, Sultanpur, Gorakhpur and some other places.
The president of Karni Sena, a Rajput outfit which is spearheading the protests against the film, Yogendra Singh Kalvi on Monday met UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and sought a ban on the film.
Sources here said that there was no move to stop the screening of the film in the state in view of the Supreme Court order in this regard.
UP government has assured cinema hall owners that they will be provided adequate security in case they screen the film.
