Mangalore, Feb 5: Seven people have been arrested and prohibitory orders have been clamped in Ullal and surrounding areas following attempt by miscreants to disturb peace in the region.
Mangalore City Police Commissioner Hithendra said that imposing prohibitory order under Section 144 of IPC was necessary to bring the situation under control and avoid continuation of untoward incidents.
“We have already arrested seven persons in connection with the latest troublesome incidents. More arrests will be soon,” he said.
Stating that all measures have been taken to tighten the security, he said that a Deputy Commissioner of police and five inspectors from the Commissionerate have been deployed besides four platoons of KSRP in Ullal region.
Mr Hithendra said that four more KSRP platoons and 100 police personnel will be reaching Ullal from outside the district.
The development comes after unknown miscreants ransacked houses, damaged vehicles and boats in the wee hours of Wednesday in Ullal Mogaveera Patna.
