Mangalore, May 5: City based organization Rachana has held the negligence on part of the authorities of Mangalore International Airport responsible for the sudden halt in Mangalore-Kuwait direct flight service.

Addressing media persons here on Monday Rachana president and KPCC secretary Ivan D'Souza said that Mangalore Airport, which recently secured international tag, is losing its charm due to official apathy.

He said that there is no meaning in withdrawing Mangalore-Kuwait direct flight service since a large number of passengers commute between these two destinations every week.

“Mangalore-Kuwait flight service should be restored at the earliest. There is no justification for cancellation as there was 60 percent of intake,” he said.

He also pointed out that Calicut-Kuwait direct flight service is still unaffected in spite of poor response.

Mr D'Souza urged the authorities to work towards realization of the long pending demand of runway extension in Mangalore Airport.

Meanwhile, he also promised that government is planning to convert Mangalore Passport Seva Kendra into a full-fledged office with walking-in facility.
