Mangalore, Feb 9: Stating that the government has left no stone unturned to restore peace in Ullal and surrounding areas, where a tensed atmosphere had prevailed for a few days, Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai has said that steps would be taken to hold peace committee meetings in police station limits once a month.
He said that despite the attempt by anti-social elements to create communal riots in Ullal, the situation came under control, thanks to the necessary measures taken by the police.
Mr Rai said that the people of the two prominent communities in Ullal are capable of defeating communal forces. “Communal forces will try to take advantage of unrest in the society. This is time for people of all the communities to be united for the cause of peace. I am sure people of Ullal will restore peace,” he said.
He also urged the people to cooperate with police department and district administration to maintain law and order during critical situations.
Mr Raid informed that the rapid action force has been deployed in the region to keep an eye on the situation and police will conduct an investigation into the series of untoward incidents that took place in Ullal, Moagaveerapatna and nearby places in recent days.
