Bantwal, Aug 7: A man was arrested in a raid conducted by Bantwal town police on an illegal slaughter house in Kaikamba Talipaddu near B C Road on Tuesday afternoon.
During the raid, the other accused escaped from the place. Even the team of police raided the house, three of the men running the slaughter house fled from the spot.
Based on a tip-off, Bantwal Circle Inspector Anil S Kulkarni and town police station inspector B Shekhar led the raid.
Huge chunks of chopped beef were found in the house in the raid. Apart from the meat, police have seized an auto-rickshaw and pickup truck from the scene.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused indulged in illegal cattle trafficking and selling meat after butchering them at the slaughter house which was in existence from some time.
A case has been registered and further investigation is on. Police personnel Pradeep, Rajupujari, Sampath, Dharma, Jayaram, Damodar, and Ramesh were part of the team that conducted the raid.
