Udupi, Oct 26: A Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh functionary from coastal Karnataka’s Udupi district is said to have played a crucial role in organising protests across Kerala against entry of women into the Sabarimala temple earlier this month.
Even though the Kerala police have arrested 1,400 people in connection with the violent protests and filed 440 cases, the issue has worked in favour of the Sangh Parivar.
“If we are seeing the Sangh and BJP led Hindu renaissance in Kerala, it’s coz of this man’s sheer effort in the last 5 years! From #JanSurakshaYatra to #SaveSabarimala campaign. What a well organised, disciplined padayatra! Take a bow @santoshbjp,” tweeted BJP Yuva Morcha Karnataka state president and and Mysuru-Kodagu MP Prathap Simha.
B L Santosh, popularly known in the BJP ranks as Santoshji, is the party’s national organisational secretary. Santosh, over the last decade since Karnataka voted the first BJP government in south India into power in 2008, has been in the thick of political activities.
Santosh was in the forefront of Janasuraksha Yatra taken out against the Left government in Kerala. Besides, he enjoys enormous respect among national level leaders of BJP.
Sabarimala temple will open for devotees again next month. “Victory was small but significant. It was not against an order, but an effort to make democracy stand on a single pillar i.e. judiciary. It requires a society which has faith, traditions, culture...Democracy requires society, leadership, culture, systems & also judiciary. Not just judiciary... We’re sure the SC will understand emotions of millions & restore the disturbed balance... No egos here ...,” Santosh tweeted.
