It is sometimes difficult to fathom the extent of fandom that Indian actors enjoy.
Diehard fans consider their icons as demigods and can go to any extent to showcase their love. In a recent case, a deceased 62-year-old Mumbai resident, Nidhi Tripathi, went ahead and wrote off all her belonging to actor Sanjay Dutt.
Suffering from a terminal disease, Nidhi had in her will mentioned Sanjay Dutt as the nominee before succumbing to a terminal disease.
Nidhi is survived by her 80-year-old mother and three siblings. The family learnt about the nomination when a bank shared that the nominee for her property was 'Film star Sanjay Dutt'.
On hearing about the news, Sanjay Dutt refused to take a single penny and will transfer the valuables back to the family.
"As actors, we are used to fans naming their children after us, chasing us down the street and even giving us gifts. But this has shocked me. I will not be claiming anything. I did not know Nishi and I am very overwhelmed by the entire incident to speak about it," the actor said.
