Mangalore, Jan 16: Strongly criticizing the state government for the delay in arresting RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat for his provocative speech at Gurupura, members of Dakshina Kannada unit of Social Democratic Party of India's (SDPI) said that it was unfortunate Congress workers carried out protest when their own government was in power.
Addressing the media persons on Wednesday, SDPI District unit president Abubakar Kulai said there was definite proof that speeches of RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat and speaker Chakravarti Sulibele at a function in Gurupura, near Mangalore, on January 5 were derogatory in nature. Mr. Bhat and Mr. Sulibele have hurt religious sentiments of the minority community.
“Mohammed Usman, our activist, who filed a complaint, has given recording of the speeches in the function to the police. Moreover, the police have also recorded the speeches.” Yet, no action had been taken to arrest the two persons, he said.
Mr. Kulai said there was no truth in the complaint accusing Mr. Usman of filing a false case.
Senior Congress leader B. Janardhan Poojary has unnecessarily dragged the name of the SDPI for the protest during his speech on January 12 when it had actually been done by the Congress activists, Mr. Kulai said.
He said as elections were nearing there was an increase in the activities of groups disturbing peace in DK.
