This follows preliminary probe reports already submitted by city police commissioner S Murugan and and tahshildar of Mangaluru taluk.

The DC had directed to the probe committee led by Dr Ashok D R, assistant commissioner, Mangalore sub-division to submit its report in three-days. Dr Ashok said that the committee received the order from DC on March 23 and probe was commenced on March 25.

The committee comprises of deputy director, department of public instruction, and superintendent, Lady Goschen Hospital as members, and deputy director, department of women and child welfare as member secretary.

The committee has been constituted following a representation received from DK District Muslim Organisations and others who held a protest in front of the office of deputy commissioner on March 20.

The committee has been asked to take a holistic view of the entire incident, explore all possible angles and take help of any or all stakeholders concerned, including the parents of the victims, their neighbours and other general public, who would like to share their views on the issue.

Mr Ibrahim also directed the committee to hold consultations with management of the school where the girl was studying.

It may be recalled here that a three-and-half-year nursery student was sexually abused on March 13 by the driver of the Maruti Omni hired by Mangalore One School to drop the children home.

Even though the school had initially denied the charges and tried to cover up the case by calling the girl a liar, medical report had confirmed the sexual abuse.
